Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: your email address, display name, profile photo, bio, and professional details you choose to provide during onboarding.
- Photo content: the image files you upload, along with any title, description, or location you add.
- Photo metadata (EXIF/GPS): when you upload a JPEG photo, we read embedded metadata such as camera model, lens, focal length, aperture, ISO and shutter speed to fill in your photo details. If the photo contains GPS coordinates, we use them only to suggest a general place name and a map position. GPS tags are removed from the file before it is stored, so the picture file we publish does not contain them.
- Cinematography information: if you post to the Cinematography feed, the film profile you create and the frames you upload, including the film title, director and crew credits, poster image, descriptions, camera and lens details, where the title can be watched, and your answer about permission to share.
- Social activity: your ribbons, comments, follows, bookmarks, and reports, and the notifications generated by that activity.
- Messages you send us: feedback, support requests, content reports, and metadata correction claims you submit, together with any details or photo references you include so we can look into them.
- Usage analytics: aggregated, anonymous data about how you interact with the app — which pages you visit, features you use, and general device information (device type, operating system, screen orientation).
We do not collect payment information and we do not track your location in real time through your device's GPS.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to operate the Anamorpixs platform — to display your profile, show your photos and cinematography frames to other members, enable social interactions (ribbons, comments, follows), send you notifications, and provide core app functionality. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your images for advertising or commercial purposes.
3. Location Data
Location is the feature most likely to affect your privacy, so please read this section carefully. We do not request access to your device's location services; location information comes only from GPS data already embedded in the photos you upload, and only if you leave it in place.
- If you choose to share a location, the map position we store and show is rounded to roughly a 7-mile area, never the exact spot where the photo was taken.
- The location shown on your photo is a general place name (city, state or equivalent) or the rounded position. You can turn the location off before posting, and you can remove or change it on any photo you own by editing the photo. Removing the location removes it from the map.
- To find a place name, your device sends the photo's coordinates to OpenStreetMap's place-name service at the moment you choose the photo.
- Before publishing, consider whether a location reveals something you would rather keep private, such as your home, a studio, or another person's address.
- The same rules apply to frames you upload to the Cinematography feed.
4. Automated Photo Screening
When you upload a photo to the Photography feed, it is automatically reviewed by an artificial intelligence service before it is published. The review looks for content our Terms do not allow, such as nudity, sexual content, graphic violence, or hate symbols, and for signs that an image was generated or heavily altered by AI. To do this, your photo is sent to an AI service provided through our app platform, Base44. How the platform and its service providers store, retain, or use data, including whether it may be used to improve AI models, is governed by their own terms and policies, which we do not control. We do not ourselves use your photos to train AI models, and we do not use this review to advertise to you or to sell your data. The result may ask you to review a photo, keep it as a private draft, or add a “This image may contain AI” label. These automated checks can be wrong. If you believe a photo was flagged or labeled in error, contact us at anamorpixs@gmail.com.
5. Your Images — You Own All Rights
Your photos belong to you. You retain full ownership and all rights to every image you upload. Anamorpixs LLC claims no ownership, copyright, or licensing rights over your images. The same is true of the frames, posters, and film profile information you post to the Cinematography feed.
We store your images solely to display them on the platform, and we do not share, sell, or license them to any third party, other than service providers described in this policy that process them on our behalf, such as for hosting and automated screening. Photos you publish, your profile picture, and the images in sponsored content are served over encrypted connections from unlisted but public links: the link itself is long and random and we never index or advertise it, but anyone who has the link — including someone you send it to — can open the image without signing in. Your Photo Book of saved photos is private by default and becomes visible to others only if you switch it to public. When you delete a photo or close your account, the image is removed from our storage and any display licence ends immediately. Our platform provider's handling of stored data is described in the Third-Party Services section.
What other people can see: Anamorpixs is a public photography and cinematography community, so treat your profile and your published photos as public. Other members — and visitors who are not signed in, who can preview a limited number of photos before being asked to join — can see your display name, username, profile photo, bio, website and social links, your photos together with the title, description, location, and camera metadata attached to them, your follower and following counts, and the comments and ribbons you leave. For the Cinematography feed, this includes film profiles, posters, frames, credits, and comments on frames. Your photos may also appear in feeds, search results, and the map view, and members can save them to a personal Photo Book. Keep in mind that deleting a photo removes it from Anamorpixs but cannot recall copies others have already made — a photo another member saved may remain in their Photo Book, and anyone who downloaded an image, or a service that cached its link, may still hold a copy we cannot reach.
6. Cinematography Feed Information
Information We Collect
If you post to the Cinematography feed, we collect the information you enter in a film profile: film title, director and crew credits, poster image, descriptions, camera and lens details, where the title can be watched, and your answer about permission to share. We also collect the frames you upload and any comments on them.
Names of Other People
Film profiles may include the names of other people, such as directors and crew, entered by the user who created the profile. These names are shown publicly with the film. If you are named and want your name corrected or removed, contact us at anamorpixs@gmail.com.
What Is Shown Publicly
On a film profile, we show the cinematographer's display name and profile photo, the director, and the film details you entered. Your profile shows a Cinematography section with your frames, if you have posted any. Frames, posters, and comments in the Cinematography feed are visible to other users.
Removal and Retention
When you remove a frame or film, we remove it from the app and its comments with it. Copies may remain briefly in backups and caches, and we cannot recall copies that others have already saved or downloaded. Your existing rights to access, correct, and delete your information apply to this content as well.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete a photo, the image and its associated metadata are removed from our storage. When you remove a cinematography frame or film, it is removed from the app along with its comments. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, comments, ribbons, and follows are removed. We may retain limited logs for a short period for security and legal compliance, after which they are permanently deleted. Where a report or copyright complaint has been filed, we may retain the related records for longer as needed to resolve it.
8. Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted third-party services to operate the platform:
- Cloud hosting and authentication (Base44): our app platform provider stores and serves your photos and data and manages sign-in with your email address and a one-time verification code. We never receive or store your email password. Anamorpixs does not offer third-party social sign-in, so no social account credentials are involved. Depending on the plan of service we use, Base44's terms may allow data stored on its platform, which can include content you upload, to be used to improve AI models. We do not control this, and we do not ourselves use your photos for that purpose.
- Automated photo screening (via Base44): uploaded photos are sent to an AI service to check them against our Terms and to detect AI-generated images, as described in the Automated Photo Screening section.
- OpenStreetMap: to draw the photo map and to look up a place name from a photo's coordinates, OpenStreetMap receives the coordinates needed for those requests.
- Fonts and map icons: the app loads fonts from Google Fonts and map marker icons from unpkg.com, which receive your device's IP address and standard request information.
- Placeholder avatars: where a member has not uploaded a profile photo, we generate one containing their initials through a third-party avatar service, which receives the name or initials used in the image.
- Analytics providers: to help us understand app usage in aggregate, anonymous form.
These providers process data under their own privacy policies and are bound to handle it securely. We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
9. Advertising & Sponsored Content
Anamorpixs may show sponsored content from brands and partners, always labeled as sponsored. We do not share your personal information with advertisers, we do not use your photos or personal data to target advertising to you, and we do not run cross-site or cross-app tracking for advertising. If you tap a sponsored item, you may leave the app and visit a third party's site, where that party's own privacy policy applies to what happens next.
10. Notifications
Anamorpixs shows activity such as new followers, comments and ribbons inside the app, in your notifications bell. The app does not currently send push notifications to your device. If we add them in future, we will ask your permission first and update this policy.
11. Cookies & Analytics
We may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We use basic analytics to understand how the app is used (e.g., which pages are visited most, crash reports). This data is aggregated and anonymous — it is not linked to your identity. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
12. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), secure storage, and access controls. Our access rules follow what each piece of data is. We do not display your email address on your profile or in the app. We limit access to account details and apply access rules to the data we store, but no system is perfectly secure. The notifications you receive are readable only by you; only you — or an administrator acting on a report — can edit or delete your photos; and only our administrators can manage sponsored content, moderation records, and featured selections. Your published photos, your profile picture, and your display name, bio and links are the deliberate exception: they are served from public links so members and visitors previewing the app can see them. However, no internet transmission or storage system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your account and do not share it with anyone.
13. Data Breach Response
In the event of a data breach that compromises your personal information, we will take prompt action to investigate, contain, and remediate the incident. We will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law, and provide information about the nature of the breach and steps you can take to protect yourself.
14. Children's Privacy — 18+ Only
Anamorpixs is intended exclusively for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete that information immediately. This policy complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws.
15. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access & portability: request a copy of your personal data in a portable format.
- Correction: request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: request that we delete your personal data (also known as the "right to be forgotten" under GDPR). You can also delete photos or your entire account directly in the app.
- Restriction & objection: request that we limit processing or object to certain uses.
- Opt-out: you may opt out of analytics by adjusting your device settings.
If you are located in the European Union, these rights are guaranteed under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. If you are named in a film credit on Anamorpixs and want your name corrected or removed, contact us at anamorpixs@gmail.com. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at anamorpixs@gmail.com.
16. International Users
Anamorpixs LLC is operated from the United States. If you access the platform from outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data protection laws than your country. By using the platform, you consent to this transfer. We endeavor to protect your information regardless of where it is processed, in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
18. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at anamorpixs@gmail.com.
